EARTHEN GRAVE Nominated For CHICAGO MUSIC AWARD

EARTHEN GRAVE Nominated For CHICAGO MUSIC AWARD Earthengraveband

Chicago-based metal band EARTHEN GRAVE has been nominated in the "Best New Entertainer" category at the 30th-anniversary edition of the Chicago Music Awards (CMA) — the first time a metal band has been nominated in the category. The CMAs honor and feature the best of Chicago entertainers in pop, classical, R&B, rock, reggae, gospel, jazz, blues, disco/house, Latin, comedy, country, polka, hip hop and world.

As the CMAs winners are based on fans' votes, EARTHEN GRAVE is asking metal listeners worldwide to vote for the group in Category 3 "Best New Entertainer" at this location.

EARTHEN GRAVE's extended range electric flying V violin player, Rachel Barton Pine, is also nominated in Category 7, "Best Classical Entertainer."

Those in the Chicago area may enjoy the awards/concert event on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Excalibur, located at 632 North Dearborn Street in Chicago, Illinois. Tickets are $30 general admission and $75 VIP.

EARTHEN GRAVE's sound is driven by the unique alchemy of its members Ron Holzner on bass (formerly of TROUBLE), Rachel Barton Pine on electric long-range violin, Mark Weiner on vocals, Jason Muxlow and Tony Spillman on guitar and Scott Davidson on drums. The group is currently wrapping up recording sessions for its self-titled first full length album.

Since its formation in 2009, EARTHEN GRAVE has been featured on the "Today Show", Better TV and WGN's nationally televised "Midday News". The group's EP, "Dismal Times", features three original songs that meld classic, crunchy doom and NWOBHM vibes with a solid dose of thrashy bludgeoning, alongside covers of two doom classics by PENTAGRAM and WITCHFINDER GENERAL. Doommantia.com has said EARTHEN GRAVE has the "songwriting capabilities to make one of the best albums ever" and Hellridemusic.com adds "If the doom gods are with us, this band will stay around and continue to produce the kind of unique, powerful and thoughtful music contained on 'Dismal Times'."

EARTHEN GRAVE has shared the stage with such luminaries as MEGADETH, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, MAYHEM, MACABRE, ANVIL, MACHINE HEAD, PENTAGRAM, NOVEMBERS DOOM, RAVEN, SKINDRED and NACHTMYSTIUM. The group's summer 2010 performance at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, Chicago marked the first time a metal band had played there.
